FOXBOROUGH, Mass. \u2013 If the struggling New England Revolution was looking to reigning team MVP Marko Perovic\u2019s return to right the ship, they\u2019ll have to wait until 2012. The Revs main creative force in the attack and top scorer in 2010 will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing successful surgery on his left knee on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Perovic had the anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed, had his medial meniscus tear repaired and had a chondroplasty on the medial femoral condyle, all in his left knee. The 27-year-old Serbian suffered a knee injury in the Revolution\u2019s 3-2 victory over Kansas City on April 23rd<\/sup> which exacerbated pre-existing conditions and eventually necessitated the surgery. Recovery is expected to take six to nine months.<\/p>\n

Hampered by injuries throughout the season, Perovic only appeared in four matches, recording a goal and an assist in 262 minutes. The Revs have thus far struggled to adequately replace their offensive catalyst and have scored just twice in five league matches since Perovic\u2019s last appearance on April 23rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

The Revs will have to deal with the reality of being without Perovic the rest of the season when they return to action on the road at FC Dallas on Saturday, June 4, at 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
