On Thurday, the Boston Aztec took one more step toward a return to the WPSL title game with a 4-0 win over the similarly-monikered Boston Aztec U-23 squad in the WPSL regional playoffs. The win delivers the Aztec to the WPSL semifinals for the second year in a row, as the 2010 WPSL champions will face off against the Orange County Waves in Chicago on Saturday, July 30th.<\/p>\n
On Friday, the\u00a0Western Mass Pioneer and Vermont Voltage opened the penultimate weekend of PDL action with a 1-1 draw in Saint Albans, VT. Ryan Malone gave the Pioneers a lead\u00a0in the 49th minute, but Jonathan Glenn’s equalizer in the 63rd minute saved the Voltage from a home loss.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, the Pioneers were pummeled by MPS Portland Phoenix by the a 5-0 scoreline in Scarborough, ME. Jason Massie (21′, 39′)scored a pair of goals, while Joel Thiessen (5′), Andrew Rigby (26′), and Nicholas Weightman (87′)\u00a0all chipped in to give Portland the comprehensive victory.<\/p>\n
