After each match the contributors to New England Soccer Today will rate the performances of the New England Revolution players who made an appearance on a 1 to 10 scale (1 horrendous, 5 average, 10 perfection). This week Sean Donahue and Brian O\u2019Connell contributed ratings for the Revs 3-2 loss to Chivas USA<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Matt Reis<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 4.5<\/strong> (Brian 4.5, Sean 4.5)
\nObvious miscommunication on the first goal, then caught out of position on the second one. Save on the Moreno shot in the 58th was the lone highlight in a game to forget for the usually-reliable keeper. (Brian) \u2026 Looked like he may have called off his defenders on the first goal and faked out of position on the third goal, but made a big save on Moreno after Alston\u2019s blunder. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Kevin Alston <\/strong>\u2013 Average Rating: 5.25<\/strong> (Brian 5.5, Sean 5)
\nBattled to stifle Elliot; made up for the poor pass that Moreno pocketed and nearly scored on in the 58th with a beautiful ball ahead on Fagundez’s goal. (Brian) \u2026 Lucky not to be punished for his bizarre pass around the hour mark, made some nice runs forward, his service was inconsistent outside of the nice pass setting up Fagundez. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Ryan Cochrane<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 4<\/strong> (Brian 4, Sean 4)
\nGot away with a few shaky sequences early; finishing on the early header not great. (Brian) \u2026 Some shaky moments as the center of the defense was consistently beaten on counterattacks.\u00a0 Missed two great opportunities on offense. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Darrius Barnes <\/strong>\u2013 Average Rating: 4.75<\/strong> (Brian 4.5, Sean 5)
\nPace saved him from a few defensive lapses; exposed by Moreno more than a few times. (Brian) \u2026 Defended Labrocca well on his goal, but was unlucky with the rebound on the blocked shot. Looked poor on the first goal, but may have been called off by Reis. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Chris Tierney<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 4.5<\/strong> (Brian 5, Sean 4)
\nService from the run of play and on free kicks was decent, but was beat for speed on the wing often. (Brian) \u2026 Faked out, along with Reis, on the third goal. Service was unusually poor from both the run of play and set pieces. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Sainey Nyassi<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 5.25 <\/strong>(Brian 5, Sean 5.5)
\nThreatened early with a few good runs on the right, and got a few crosses off, to boot. Second half was a different story. \u00a0(Brian) \u2026 Made some great runs forward, using his speed to good effect, but his service was inconsistent. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Shalrie Joseph<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 6<\/strong> (Brian 6.5, Sean 5.5)
\nThe engine of the Revs offense; unlucky to hit the woodwork late, but didn’t diminish another strong night by the skipper. (Brian) \u2026 Well taken penalty and unlucky on his late shot, but should have done better with his last minute header and on a few occasions was a bit slow in his decisions on the ball in the defensive third. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Stephen McCarthy<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 5<\/strong> (Brian 5.5, Sean 4.5)
\nHobbled a bit for times, but with Benny pinching inside and Tierney pushing up, the rookie did well to aid in the rear. \u00a0(Brian) \u2026 Turnover led to Chivas second goal and a few too many giveaways overall. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Benny Feilhaber <\/strong>\u2013 Average Rating: 5.5<\/strong> (Brian 6.5, Sean 4.5)
\nCreated well and looked dangerous throughout the game; corners could’ve been better, though. (Brian) \u2026 Still doesn\u2019t look completely comfortable on the wing and at times tried to force things on offense, leading to turnovers. Set pieces were poor. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Zach Schilawski <\/strong>\u2013 Average Rating: 5.25<\/strong> (Brian 5.5, Sean 5)
\nDecent showing; seemed to pair well with Caraglio, looked much more comfortable up top than on the wing. (Brian) \u2026 Had an early header on frame, but otherwise was mostly a nonfactor. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Milton Caragilo<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 6<\/strong> (Brian 6.5, Sean 5.5)
\nConsidering it was his first game in over year, the Argentinean got into the mix by getting into good positions; touch was solid, and used his body well to win the ball inside the attacking third. (Brian) \u2026 Clearly not match fit and needs time to get to know his teammates, but showed a decent touch and ability to link up with others in the attack on occasion. Early signs are positive (Sean)<\/p>\n

(sub) Kenny Mansally<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 4.75<\/strong> (Brian 5, Sean\u00a0 4.5)
\nMade a few nice runs, but otherwise, really wasn’t a part of the late fireworks. (Brian) \u2026 Failed to make much of an impact after coming on. Took a poor long shot rather than passing. (Sean)<\/p>\n

(sub) Diego Fagundez<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 8.75 <\/strong>(Brian 9, Sean 8.5)
\nGoing up against guys older and stronger than him, the 16-year-old flat out dazzled in his debut; fearless in the final third, impeccable touch, and, oh yeah, tremendous collection on Alston’s pass and perfect finish on the goal. Single-handedly set up both Revs’ goals. (Brian) \u2026 The 16-year-old proved quite the supersub, earning a penalty kick and scoring a goal in his debut. As Nicol said, \u201cwhat more can you ask for?\u201d(Sean)<\/p>\n

(sub) Pat Phelan<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: N\/R<\/strong> (Brian 5.5, Sean N\/R)
\nSolid in the rear, and played mistake-free in the midfield and defending third late. (Brian) \u2026 Came on so the Revs could play a 3-5-2, but didn\u2019t have enough time to make much of an impact. (Sean)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
