This week Sean Donahue and Brian O’Connell contributed ratings for the New England Revolution’s 3-2 loss to the Chicago Fire on Sunday.

Matt Reis – Average Rating: 3 (Brian 3, Sean 3)
Looked silly and molasses slow in the first half; second half was better, but was absolutely awful on the Oduro goal. (Brian) … A good second half save couldn’t erase a dreadful first 45 minutes. Defense put a lot of pressure on Reis and he wasn’t at the top of his game. (Sean)

Chris Tierney – Average Rating: 5.5 (Brian 5.5, Sean 5.5)
Nearly slipped one through via the free kick; defensively sound; admirable performance in light of the team’s terrible first half. (Brian) … Can’t be faulted for any of the Fire’s goals or dangerous chances and set pieces were generally solid. (Sean)

Darrius Barnes – 3 (Brian 3, Sean 3)
Beaten on the first two goals, but later stepped up his performance; overall, troubling return to his natural CB slot. (Brian) … Feilhaber blamed himself for the penalty kick, but it was Barnes who let Nyarko get the inside positioning on him. Coria and Barnes didn’t work well together. (Sean)

Franco Coria – Average Rating: 1.75 (Brian 2.5, Sean 1)
Flat footed on first two goals, then beaten for speed on the Nyarko goal; inexcusable performance all around. (Brian) … Flatfooted on the second goal and too slow to keep up with Nyarko on the second. Also beaten – and bailed out by Reis – on Oduro’s second half breakaway. After a promising start to the season Coria’s looked poor lately. (Sean)

Kevin Alston – Average Rating: 5.25 (Brian 5.5, Sean 5)
Slow to track back on the Oduro goal; however, his forays into the final third aided the attack. (Brian) … One of his more effective nights getting forward, but the center backs needed more help from him early. (Sean)

Kenny Mansally – Average Rating: 4.25 (Brian 4.5, Sean 4)
Ambitious shot in the first half nearly squeaked through; otherwise, it was a fairly quiet day for the streaky striker/midfielder. (Brian) … Looked dangerous with his pace a couple times, but service was poor and wasn’t involved enough in the attack. (Sean)

Benny Feilhaber – Average Rating: 4.75 (Brian 5, Sean 4.5)
Giveway in the middle led to first goal; continued to shoulder the load on the attack, with mixed results. (Brian) … Early giveaway helped lead to the penalty. Set pieces weren’t great. (Sean)

Shalrie Joseph – Average Rating: 5.25 (Brian 5.5, Sean 5)
Passing was there, couldn’t convert his second half chances; should’ve been a bigger presence in the back. (Brian) … Chicago exploited holes in the middle and part of that falls on Shalrie, even if he wasn’t directly at fault for the goals. (Sean)

Ryan Guy – Average Rating: 7 (Brian 7, Sean 7)
Workrate was sensational; shook off some wild passes to score the two goals that almost brought the Revs back. (Brian) … Worked hard for 90 minutes and it paid off with two goals. Service was inconsistent. (Sean)

Milton Caraglio – Average Rating: 5 (Brian 5, Sean 5)
Pedestrian pace for much of the match, but tremendous work inside the area helped out Guy on both goals. (Brian) … Would like to see him do better on the header he had and a lack of pace hurt him, but he aided in both of Guy’s garbage time goals. (Sean)

Zack Schilawski – Average Rating: 4.75 (Brian 5, Sean 4.5)
Got a couple of decent looks on goal, but the chemistry between him and Caraglio was lacking. (Brian) … Had trouble finding space in the attack. (Sean)

(sub) Kheli Dube – Average Rating: 4.25 (Brian 4, Sean 4.5)
Fired a couple of shots, but clearly wasn’t comfortable in the midfielder’s role. (Brian) … At his best when he’s making quacking passing and combination plays. Showed life a few times on the left, though it’s clearly not an ideal position for him. (Sean)

(sub) Diego Fagundez – Average Rating: 6 (Brian 6, Sean 6)
Another superb appearance by the teenager; instantly sharpened the attack, and could’ve earned a penalty when Johnson tackled him inside the box. (Brian) … Great spark off the bench.
