This week Sean Donahue and Brian O’Connell contributed ratings for the New England Revolution’s 3-0 loss to the Columbus Crew on Saturday.

Bobby Shuttlworth – Average Rating: 6 (Brian 6, Sean 6)
Defensive miscues left him exposed on the three goals, but actually commanded his area well, and came off his line when needed. One of his best games so far. (Brian) … Hard to blame for any of the goals. Communication and command of his box was improved over prior performance. Was quick off his line to make some big stops. (Sean)

Chris Tierney – Average Rating: 3.5 (Brian 3.5, Sean 3.5)
Just an off night all around for the normally-reliable veteran – service was poor, failed to hold onto the ball, and generally absent all night. (Brian) … Service was inconsistent and was caught on the ball a few times. (Sean)

Darrius Barnes – Average Rating: 4 (Brian 4.5, Sean 3.5)
Had a tough task in marking Mendoza, and although the effort was there, the Columbus striker was too much to handle. (Brian) … At least partly to blame for the first two goals. It was a night to forget for Barnes. (Sean)

Franco Coria – Average Rating: 3.25 (Brian 3.5, Sean 3)
Seemed to be everywhere the ball wasn’t in the defending third; way too casual on the counter, and allowed far too much space for the Crew to operate. (Brian) … Didn’t seem bothered with helping Barnes on the first goal or helping prevent that header that set it up. Caught flat footed all night. (Sean)

Kevin Alston – Average Rating: 3.5 (Brian 3.5, Sean 3.5)
Another Revs player with an off night; positioning left something to be desired, seemed to inherit many positions, none of which were the right ones when the Crew counterattacked. (Brian) … Often caught in possession pressing forward. A few promising runs forward, but needed to pick his spots better, especially early. (Sean)

Monsef Zerka – Average Rating: 4 (Brian 4, Sean 4)
Factored into the attack early, and helped out in the rear, but with few opportunities in the second half, he was non-factor. (Brian) … Active when the Revs when in the attack early, but faded with the rest of the team. (Sean)

Benny Feilhaber – Average Rating: 4.5 (Brian 4.5, Sean 4.5)
Effort was there, and covered for Alston and Tierney on D, but going forward, he never seemed to get in a rhythm with the rest of his teammates. (Brian) … Often stuck back covering for Alston. Passing was sharp at times, but couldn’t get much going forward. (Sean)

Shalrie Joseph – Average Rating: 4.5 (Brian 4.5, Sean 4.5)
Suffered from a key defensive lapse on the Duka goal, and while the attacking fire was there, his shots could only soar high over the bar. (Brian) … Generally smart passing, but turnover led to the first goal and long shots were poor. (Sean)

Ryan Guy – Average Rating: 4 (Brian 4, Sean 4)
Created well early, but he and Alston never really seemed in synch at both ends of the pitch. (Brian) … Effort was there early, but like Zerka disappeared as the game went on. Passing was inconsistent. Often stuck tracking back for Alston. (Sean)

Milton Caraglio – Average Rating: 4.5 (Brian 4.5, Sean 4.5)
Passing was surprisingly good, but his failure to put shots on frame was discouraging. (Brian) … Passing was good. Worked hard, but often lacked support. At times tried to do too much. Still looks slow both in pace and to pull the trigger in the box. (Sean)

Diego Fagundez – Average Rating: 5.25 (Brian 5.5, Sean 5)
Smart runs, passes, and positioning made it look like he was ready to jump on the scoresheet early; but once the second half came, he was forced to do too much in the back. (Brian) … Bright early start, but struggled with physical defending as the match went on. (Sean)

(sub) Zack Schilawski – Average Rating: 4 (Brian 4, Sean 4)
Non-descript cameo late failed to aid the attack, but lended assistance in the back. (Brian) … Asked to play on the right and didn’t make an impact. (Sean)

(sub) Rajko Lekic – Average Rating: 4 (Brian 4, Sean 4)
Given the state of his team’s attack when he came on, the striker found his chances almost non-existent. (Brian) … Didn’t seem 100% and had little opportunity on the ball. (Sean)

(sub) Kheli Dube – Average Rating: 4 (Brian 4, Sean 4)
Failed to involve himself on the attack with the limited touches afforded to him. (Brian) … Couldn’t get anything going in his short spell.
