In the midst of the controversy surrounding Jose \u201cPepe\u201d Moreno, the New England Revolution have signed another striker, Sa\u00ebr S\u00e8ne. The Paris, France, native trialed with the Revs the week of January 23rd in the team\u2019s Arizona preseason camp.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had the chance to have Sa\u00ebr in camp with us in Arizona and see him interact with our players both on and off the field,\u201d General Manager Michael Burns said in a statement released by the club. \u201cWe believe he\u2019ll play a valuable role for us this season. He\u2019s scored goals consistently with each of his previous clubs, and we believe he has the ability to continue to do so in MLS.\u201d<\/p>\n
S\u00e8ne has been with fourth (formerly third) division German club FC Bayern Munich II since 2009. The 6-foot-3 French striker went through the youth system of famed French club Paris Saint-Germain before dropping to the lower divisions of French soccer.<\/p>\n
S\u00e8ne moved to Germany in 2007 and played for SG Schorndorf and SG Sonnenhof Gro\u00dfaspach before joining FC Bayern Munich II. The 25-year-old scored 19 goals in 55 games for Bayern Munich II.<\/p>\n
Though S\u00e8ne has never appeared for the FC Bayern Munich German Bundesliga (first division) first team in meaningful competition, he was named to their 2009\u201310 Champions League squad. The 25 year old also scored for Bayern against AC Milan in a preseason friendly.<\/p>\n
S\u00e8ne will join the team after receiving his U.S. P-1 Visa and his International Transfer Certificate. He will wear number 39 for the Revs. If Moreno does not join the club, S\u00e8ne will be the fourth international on the Revs roster of a possible eight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
