After failing to find the field with the first team this season, Revolution midfielder/forward Kenny Mansally was waived by the club on Friday.

The 23-year-old Gambian international, who played in 25 games last season, was limited to reserve team duty in 2012. In his lone appearance (Apr. 9 vs. Philadelphia) with the reserves, he scored two goals. But given the team’s considerable depth at midfield and forward, it appeared that Mansally’s days in Foxboro were all but numbered.

“We want to wish Kenny all the best as he moves into the next stage of his career,” General Manager Michael Burns said in a statement. “Kenny was always a professional in his time with us and we wish him well.”

Mansally was originally signed by the Revolution in September 2007 following an impressive showing at the U-20 World Cup in Canada. He went on to play in 89 games (47 starts) for New England, tallying seven goals and collecting five assists.

In addition to his contributions at the club level, Mansally also recorded 10 caps (one goal) with the Gambia National Team.
