The left hamstring injury that midfielder Sainey Nyassi suffered during the Feb. 10 preseason match against Boston College has landed him on the Revolution’s disabled list to start the 2012 season, the team announced on Wednesday. He is expected to miss 8-10 weeks.
Nyassi, who came off in the 20th minute of the match against the Eagles, will miss a minimum of the team’s first six matches. The earliest he can return to the field is the Revolution’s April 28th game against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena.
The 23-year-old midfielder missed New England’s last 11 matches of the 2011 season with right MCL and right hamstring injuries. His last regular season appearance came on Aug. 6 vs. Chivas USA, a game which saw him play the entire 90. He scored one goal in 21 games for the Revolution in 2011.
