New England Soccer Today

Polling Low

Just days away from the start of the season confidence in the New England Revolution’s ability to turn things around appears low among soccer pundits across the country. The Revs placed ninth out of the ten Eastern Conference teams in the North American Soccer Reporter’s (NASR) first-ever Major League Soccer Preseason Poll.

The NASR’s membership – made up of the top soccer journalists across the continent – was asked to project the final standings in each conference. The results were then calculated based on everyone’s response and saw the Revolution place above only the expansion Montreal Impact in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Revs garnered 65 points in the poll, placing them just behind Toronto FC with 67. Sporting Kansas City was selected to again finish first in East, while the MLS Cup Champion Los Angeles Galaxy was predicted to take the West.

The NASR picked Shalrie Joseph as the Revs most important player this season with Benny Feilhaber in second and rookie Kelyn Rowe and newcomer Clyde Simms also receiving votes.

Full results of the poll as well as the methodology and who voted can be found at:
