Revolution Alumni Update: April 8
- Updated: April 8, 2012
It was an eventful weekend in MLS and abroad for Revolution alumni.
But Clint Dempsey made it one to remember when he bagged a brace in Fulham’s 3-0 victory over Bolton at Reebok Stadium on Saturday. The Revolution’s first round pick in 2004 scored in the 30th and 45th minutes and in the process shattered Louis Saha’s single-season goalscoring mark (13) with his 14th and 15th tallies of the season.
In Talca, Chile, Milton Caraglio scored a 21st minute goal to help Rangers beat Union La Calera 2-0 on Saturday. The Argentine striker has five goals in 11 games for Los Rojinegros this season.
In Kansas City, left back Seth Sinovic went the full 90 in Sporting K.C.’s 1-0 win over the defending champion Galaxy on Saturday afternoon. The 2010 2nd round pick compiled 99 touches and completed 39 successful passes for the hosts, who won their fifth straight to start the season.
Hours later, Rapids’ midfielder Jeff Larentowicz played the entirety of the first Rocky Mountain Cup match against Real Salt Lake. Although Colorado was kept off the board in a 2-0 defeat at Rio Tinto Stadium, the center half completed a team-high 67 passes. Coaching Larentowicz was former Revolution midfielder Oscar Pareja, who played in 13 games with the team in 1998.
In Portland, wingback James Riley went the full 90 for Chivas USA in its 2-1 victory over the Timbers. The player nicknamed “Giggles” during his time in Foxboro connected on 43 passes but picked up an 89th minute yellow card for time wasting.
On Sunday, Michael Parkhurst started at right back for FC Nordsjælland in its 1-1 draw to FC Midtjylland. The former Revolution center back, who’s seen more time on the right recently, has played in 23 league games for his squad this season.
