Portland Phoenix down CFC Azul 2-0

GPS Portland Phoenix scored an early goal and then added an insurance goal in the final minutes to beat CFC Azul 2-0.
Just nine minutes into the match, Portland striker Chris Banks found Austrailian native and midfielder Keegan Ziada, who scored his first goal of the season by beating Azul goalie Matt Sangeloty.
The game remained scoreless for the next 80 minutes until the Phoenix struck again. Azul used a late push to try and tie the game, but that left them vulnerable as Phoenix scored on the counter attack in the 89th minute behind Brian Fekete’s first goal of the season.
Portland goalie Terrence Dieterich made eight saves and earned his first shutout of the season.
The Phoenix have a quick turnaround as they host the Worcester Hydra tonight at 6:00 p.m. at Cape Elizabeth High School.
CFC Azul will be back in action on Friday, June 8th at 7:30 as they travel to take on the Western Mass Pioneers at Lusitano Stadium.
