Mutiny Fall to Flash 3-1
- Updated: June 11, 2012
The Mutiny fell into an early deficit that it couldn’t climb out of in Saturday’s 3-1 loss to the Western New York Flash at Sahlen’s Stadium.
Katy Frierson opened up the scoring for the Flash in the 24th minute, chipping a shot past New England’s Vikki Alonzo. In the 31st minute, the Flash doubled their lead through McCall Zerboni, who put away a miscleared sequence by the Mutiny.
The hosts scored again in the 76th minute. This time, Emily Van Egmond headed in a cross from the right flank from Stephanie Ochs to put the game out of reach.
The Mutiny were, however, able to grab a consolation goal moments later. In the 81st minute, Kate Horwath finished a feed from Becca Mays to erase the Flash’s cleansheet and cut the lead to two goals.
New England returns to action on Jun. 14 when they travel to the Hoosier state to face FC Indiana.
