Player Ratings: New England Revolution at Houston Dynamo
- Updated: October 11, 2010
After each match the contributors to New England Soccer Today will rate the performances of the Revolution players who made an appearance on a 1 to 10 scale (1 horrendous, 5 average, 10 perfection). This week Sean Donahue contributed the ratings for the Revs’ 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake.
Bobby Shuttleworth – 6.5
Made a couple of key saves to help the Revs to victory. A few errors, but recovered from all of them and commanded his box well. Nothing he could do on Oduro’s goal.
Chris Tierney – 4.5
Good set pieces, but struggled with the pace of Oduro and Ashe.
Cory Gibbs – 6
At fault, along with Barnes on the ball over the top that led to Oduro’s chance that Shuttleworth denied, but otherwise battled through injuries to put in a good performance.
Darrius Barnes – 6
Missed a chance to head the ball clear on Oduro’s chance, but otherwise a solid performance. Saved the Revs after Osei’s early mistake.
Emmanuel Osei – 2.5
Directly responsible for most of Houston’s best chances. Left Oduro alone on his goal and early missed clearance and subsequent slip-up gave the Dynamo another great chance. Wasted possession by attempting a 40+ yard shot late. Far too many errors. Good pass to set up Joseph’s goal.
Khano Smith – 3
Added next to nothing offensively and beaten several times defensively. Houston had most of their success when attacking down the right flank against him and Tierney.
Pat Phelan – 4.5
Some reckless challenges and didn’t add much offensively. A bit lucky not to have been ejected for his early challenge.
Shalrie Joseph – 6.5
Great job to bring down the long ball from Osei and excellent finish. Solid performance patrolling the midfield.
Kheli Dube – 5.5
Good run and finish on the game winning goal, but added little offensively otherwise.
Marko Perovic – 5.5
Quiet night for the Serbian. Won some dangerous free kicks for the Revs, but not as involved as usual in the Revs attack. Left with an apparent injury that seemed to be slowing him down in the second half.
Ilija Stolica – 6
Excellent work to create something from nothing and set up Dube for the winning goal. Worked hard up top all night helping the Revs keep possession.
(sub) Zack Schilawski – 5.5
Worked hard off the bench to put pressure on Houston’s defense and help the Revs get the victory.

(sub) Jason Griffiths – NR
