PDL All-Stars Fall to Oxford United
- Updated: July 31, 2012
Seacoast United Mariners striker Eddie Jones scored for the “Jim Dedeus XI” All Stars after the half hour mark, but it wasn’t enough to overtake Oxford United in Monday’s 4-1 loss at Portsmouth High School.
Jones’ 31st minute strike leveled it a minute after Oxford United’s Tommy Craddock opened the account in the 30th minute. But it was all Oxford after the equalizer, as Jon-Paul Pittman and James Constable helped put the game away with goals in the 44th and 74th minutes, respectively.
The All-Star team was coached by both Seacoast United Phantoms head coach Iain Scott, and USL Hall of Fame inductee/NH Phantoms founder Jim Dedeus. The squad was primarily comprised of players from across the New England-based PDL teams. The Seacoast United Mariners (NPSL) also had two players on the team, along with two youth players from Seacoast United’s U.S. Development Academy program.
Monday’s friendly marked the third and final match of the “U’s” preseason tour. The League Two side will return to Oxford to resume its preseason fixture list on Saturday against Cardiff City at Kassam Stadium.
