Parkhurst, Dempsey Called Up
- Updated: September 2, 2012
Former New England Revolution stars Michael Parkhurst and Clint Dempsey and Attleboro, Mass. native Geoff Cameron were named to the 24-man U.S. National Team roster to face Jamaica in World Cup Qualifiers on Sept. 7 and Sept. 11.
Parkhurst, a Providence, R.I. native, has made 13 appearances for the U.S. The 5-foot-11 center back has played his club soccer in Denmark for FC Nordsjaelland since leaving the Revolution after the 2008 season.
Dempsey, at Texas native, has appeared in 87 matches for the U.S. and is fourth all-time with 27 goals. The 6-foot-1 midfielder/forward, who left the Revolution for Fulham FC in England in 2007, completed a move to Tottenham Hotspur this week.
Cameron, a University of Rhode Island product, has appeared six times for the U.S., most recently in Aug. 15 shock 1-0 upset win over Mexico at Estadio Azteca, the first ever win for the U.S. at that venue. The 6-foot-1 defender/midfielder transferred earlier this summer from the Houston Dynamo to Stoke City in England.
