FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Veteran defender Flo Lechner confirmed on Friday that he will not return to the Revolution in 2013.

Lechner, 31, played in nine games for New England in 2012, all at right back. He made seven starts and collected his lone assist of the season in a 2-2 comeback draw at Toronto on Jun. 23.

In addition to his experience with the first team, the German international also featured in three Reserve League matches, lending his experience to a number of Revolution rookies and Academy players.

Injuries limited Lechner during his lone season in Foxboro. Following his MLS debut at Dallas on Apr. 5, a broken foot sidelined him for nearly a month. In what turned out to be his final game in a Revolution uniform, Lechner suffered a season-ending MCL sprain against the Red Bulls on Sept. 22.

Prior to signing with the Revolution on Mar. 14, 2012, the vocal defender played in Germany for Karlsruher SC, St. Pauli FC and VfB Stuttgart II.
