Gavin, Murray on Re-Entry List

Midfielder Blair Gavin and goalkeeper Tim Murray are on the list of players eligible for participation in the 2012 MLS Re-Entry Process, which starts on Friday.

Gavin and Murray, who are both eligible because they have accrued at least three seasons of MLS experience, had their contract options declined by the Revolution last week.

However, the club may still sign them through 5 p.m. ET on Thursday. Both players may also opt out of the process provided they do so before the aforementioned deadline.

The Stage One draft of the Re-Entry Process will take place on Friday at 3 p.m. ET and the Stage Two draft will take place on Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. ET.   The two drafts will take place via teleconference with all 19 clubs represented.  The Revolution hold the fourth spot in both drafts.

Per league rules, clubs must exercise the option for, or extend a Bona Fide Offer to, all players selected in Stage 1.  Players that were out of contract may either accept or reject the Bona Fide Offer. Should a player reject the offer, the drafting club will hold the right of first refusal for that player in MLS. Players with option years left on their contract will automatically be added to the drafting club’s roster.

Last year, the Revolution selected defender/midfielder Danleigh Borman (Toronto FC), midfielder Clyde Simms (D.C. United) and Nate Jaqua (Seattle Sounders) in the Re-Entry Process. Simms reached an agreement shortly afterward, while Borman and Jaqua declined to sign their offers.
