PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Italia ’90 found a trio of goals before the interval and claimed a 3-1 win over Inter United on Saturday at O’Brien Field in Southeastern New England Super Liga action.

Divanilson Lopes (21′), Michael Antoniuk (25′) and Silvino Lopes (43′) all scored for Italia, while Rauniso Oliveira (42′) delivered for Inter.

Although Italia beat them to the board, it was all Inter early. Romeo Reis collected a loose pass and fired a shot that whistled wide of the far post in the 11th minute, and at that point, it appeared they were ready to take the reins.

That idea faded to black in the 21st minute when Lopes coasted into the 18 unchallenged and slipped one past Derek Soares for the opening goal.

Italia made it a two-goal advantage four minutes later. Silivino Lopes played it inside for Antonuik, who was brought down by reckless challenge inside the 18, and a penalty was called. Antonuik took it himself and buried it under the bar in the 25th minute.

Inter got a chance from the spot themselves in the 42nd minute when an Italia player’s arm brought down a Francisco Campo cross inside the edge of the area. Rauniso Oliveira’s blast from the spot gave his club a measure of hope – but that hope proved to be fleeting.

A minute after Rauniso Oliveira converted from the spot, Silvino Lopes blasted a point blank shot to reclaim the two-goal lead going into the half.

Inter collected a pair of opportunities to pull themselves back into the match. In the 65th minute, Marvin Boaventura sent it to Reis inside the box, but Reis delivered it right to keeper Eder Oliveira.

Another chance appeared in the 83rd minute when Lloyd Ashong forced Eder Oliveira to dive on a ball that had eyes for the inside of the far post.

Alexandre Lopes nearly closed the gap in the 90th minute when he went alone on goal and ripped a shot that was destined for the back of the net before Eder Oliveira extended his left leg on a dive to deny him.
