PDL: Azul Renamed AC Connecticut
- Updated: September 5, 2014
CFC Azul will take the field as A.C. Connecticut in 2015 per a release from the Nutmeg State squad on Friday.
The club, which made its PDL debut in 2012, switched ownership earlier this year, and operated as Azul PDL after splitting with Hamden (Ct.) – based Connecticut Football Club. Plans were in place for a complete rebrand in 2015.
“It is our intention to make A.C. Connecticut an integral part of the local soccer community. The team has the opportunity to positively impact the quality of soccer in Connecticut from recreational clubs all the way up to the local college level players,” read the release.
The team will continue to play its home games at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, Ct.
Azul PDL finished the 2014 season with second-place record of 9-2-4 in the Northeast Division, good enough for a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Former Revolution midfielder/forward Ryan Kinne scored four goals in eight games for the squad last year.
