New Revs Jersey Leaked
- Updated: February 7, 2015
An early glimpse of what appears to be the Revolution’s new secondary jersey was leaked on Saturday via footyheadlines.com, weeks ahead of its official unveiling.
According to the site, which also leaked the current Revolution home kit prior to its release last year, the 2015/16 Revolution jersey is primarily red with a white chest and white sleeve panels. It also features a green collar, the first time the color has been featured on a Revolution jersey. As with all MLS jerseys this season, the secondary shirt also features the new MLS badge on each sleeve. The shorts to be worn with the jersey have not yet been released.
After years of wearing a white secondary shirt, the club went in another direction by rolling out a red jersey. Red is the primary color of the Flag of New England, which dates back to the 1770s. Another element of the flag is seen on the green of the collar, a tip of the cap to the pine tree featured in the upper left-hand of the flag. The club has incorporated the historic flag into the design of its kits in recent years.
Last year, Revolution president Brian Bilello hinted on Twitter that the club’s secondary shirt would not be white.
The last time the Revolution donned a jersey that wasn’t primarily white or navy was in 1999, when the club sported a red shirt that featured horizontal navy stripes.
Last year, the Revolution unveiled its current navy blue home kits, which were paired with new white shorts. The club will unveil a new home jersey next year.
