Snow, Rain May Affect Revs Home Opener

So much for gentle step into spring.
Snow and rain are predicted ahead of Saturday’s Revolution home opener against the Montreal Impact at Gillette Stadium.
According to weather.com, snow flurries are expected for the Foxborough through the early afternoon, with temperatures expected to reach the low-40s. Saturday’s kickoff is set for 3:00pm.
The weather pattern that’s expected to bring snow and rain to the region has already affected at least one MLS match. Friday’s Philadelphia Union-FC Dallas match at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. has been moved to Saturday afternoon.
The Revolution enter Saturday’s home debut 0-2-0 after setbacks in Seattle and New York. The club has only opened the regular season at home once (2008) in their 20 seasons.
Prior to Thursday’s training session, Revolution defender Darrius Barnes said the club doesn’t dwell on the fact that the schedule makers consistently put the club on the road to start the season.
“It is what it is,” Barnes said. “It’s something you can’t help, there’s (weather) issues that go into it with it being cold in New England at the beginning of the season. It’s something that we know, it’s not something that we’re negative about.”
The club is expecting a crowd of 15,000 for Saturday’s home opener. Last year, the Revolution were 1-0-1 in games at home in which the temperature was between 30-49 degrees at kickoff.
