USASA: Taunton Eagles, Recordações Join FA1

Football Alliance of New England (FA1) awarded its first two franchises to longtime southeastern New England soccer clubs Taunton Eagles and Club Recordações de Portugal ahead of its inaugural season.
Both clubs are former members of the historic Luso-Americano Soccer Association (LASA), which was considered one of the strongest leagues in the country during the 1980s. More recently, both clubs competed in the Unidas Soccer Association (LUSA) before it folded following the 2013 season.
“FA1 is proud to make these two clubs part of our Inaugural Season,” said league commissioner Daniel Borges on the FA1 official Facebook page.
FA1 also confirmed that it is hoping to add squads from the Real Boston Rams and Rhode Island Reds.
The southeastern New England-based league is expecting to kick off its inaugural season in late-May.
