Portugal-Greece ’04 Euro ‘Rematch’ in Mass. on 6/12

A friendly featuring players from the Portugal and Greece squads that met in the 2004 UEFA Euro Final will take place at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Mass. on Jun. 12. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
The match, which is billed as “Legends Cup Rematch Battle,” will bring a number of notable players from the Final, which Greece won 1-0 at Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.
Nuno Gomes, Maniche, Fernando Couto, Rui Barros, Simao and Costinha will suit up for the Portuguese contingent, while Angelos Charisteas, Angelos Basinas, Giourkas Seitardis and Dimitrios Papadopoulos will represent the Greek team. Charisteas scored the decider in the ’04 Final.
According to the official press announcement, the Portuguese players “are not calling this a friendly and are traveling to Lawrence to win.”
Tickets for the match go on sale at 10:00am on May 5.
