Sporting CP Update 5/11
- Updated: May 11, 2015
Sporting were on the road this week, as they travelled to the western suburbs of Lisbon to take on Estoril on Sunday.
Sporting already secured third place in the league, and with the Portuguese Cup final at the end of the month, Sporting were looking to maintain good form for the remaining three league games. But that didn’t stop Estoril from drawing first blood, as Seba scored in the 25th minute.
Sporting tied the game in the second half on a goal from Ewerton for the final 1-1 tie. Sporting controlled possession and shots on target in this game. Estoril’s keeper Pawel Kieszek had to come up with a couple of good saves to preserve the tie.
Sporting’s “B” team played two games this week. In their first, they lost to Guimaraes “B” team 3-2. Diego Rubio returned to the score sheet, and Ousmane Drame added the second goal to make it 2-1 at the time for SCP “B”, before Guimaraes “B” tied it minutes later and in the 2nd half took the lead for the winner. On Sunday, Sporting and Benfica “B” teams played to a 0-0 tie.
