Packwood Back on Trial w/ Revs

A familiar face was spotted at the Revolution’s training ground on Friday.
U.S. U-23 center back Will Packwood, who trialed with the Revolution back in May following his departure from Birmingham City, was back in the fold for Friday’s training session, per MLSSoccer.com’s Craig Forde, who tweeted the development.
The 21-year-old Concord, Mass. native spent a week on trial with the Revolution, only to walk away without a contract.
“We just looked at (the trial) at the end of it as a staff and we just didn’t see him playing first team minutes for us right now,” Revolution general manager Michael Burns told ESPNBoston.com last month. “So that’s really what it came down to. We were honest with him and his agent, and said that it’s important for him to be playing. We just didn’t foresee that right now with us, and that’s reason why we didn’t pursue the signing.”
But with the club’s defensive depth thinner than it was two months ago due to Jermaine Jones’ second hernia surgery, it appears Packwood, who starred with the U.S. U-23s during last month’s Toulon tournament, may be primed to sign the second time around.
