Tierney To Miss All-Star Game
- Updated: July 28, 2015
Revolution left back Chris Tierney, who was named an MLS All-Star for the first time in his eight-year career earlier this month, was one of four players who were forced to withdraw from Wednesday’s midsummer showcase against Tottenham Hotspur due an injury, per a league release.
In addition to Tierney, Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Steven Gerrard (LA Galaxy) and Robbie Keane (LA Galaxy) will also miss the All-Star game due to injury. MLS All-Star Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni has selected Sam Cronin (Colorado Rapids), Ethan Finlay (Columbus Crew SC), Waylon Francis (Columbus Crew SC), Juninho (LA Galaxy) and Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy) as five additional All-Stars to join the gameday roster.
Tierney, who’s spent the entirety of his eight-year career with the Revolution, learned of the long-awaited honor ahead of his club’s clash with New York City FC on Jul. 18. He has one goal and three assists in 21 games for the Revolution this year.
Wednesday’s All-Star Game will take place at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. Kickoff is set for 9:00pm ET.
