Gameday: #NEvORL

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Welcome to Gillette Stadium, where we’ve got a lush carpet of green grass laid out for tonight’s match between the Revolution (10-9-7, 37 points) and Orlando City (7-12-8, 29 points). Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.

Tonight’s match marks the second time the two sides have played this season. On May 8, the Revolution jumped out to a 2-0 lead before conceding twice in the final 15 minutes to settle for a 2-2 draw at the Citrus Bowl.

What’s at stake? For the Revolution, it’s all about keeping that momentum going after going unbeaten in their last five. They’ll have to do it without Jermaine Jones, though, who’s away on national team duty with the U.S. For the Lions, they’ll take anything they can get from Saturday’s match without Kaka and Cyle Larin, both of whom are both out due to international duty.

Biggest question: Can Daigo Kobayashi fill the void left by Jermaine Jones’ absence? Given that the Lions will do anything to kill the game and get the result, the Revolution will need the Japanese’s footballing skills to break through the guests’ approach.

Weather: It’s mild and somewhat cool for early-September here at Gillette, with temperatures in the mid-70s under partly cloudy skies.

Referees: Mark Geiger will be the referee on Saturday. The last Revolution game in which he served as the man in middle was 1-1 draw against DC United on May 23, a game in which he sent off Chris Tierney and Lee Nguyen before the 60th minute. Joining Geiger will be Greg Barkey (AR1) and Logan Brown (AR2). The fourth official will be Jorge Gonzalez.
