USOC: 1st Round Open Division Matches Announced

The seven New England-based sides that received Open Division slots for 2016 U.S. Open Cup qualifying learned who they’ll face during the First Round after U.S. Soccer announced the first round pairings on Tuesday.

First Round action for the seven – which include Battery Park Gunners (BSSL), GPS Omens (BSSL), Worcester FC (BSSL), Boston Olympiakos (MSSL) Southie FC (MSSL), Newtown Pride FC (CSL) and Newport FC – will take place during the weekend of Oct. 17-18.

Southie FC will face Battery Park Gunners at 12:00 pm on Oct. 17 at Madison Park High School in Roxbury, Mass.

Later that day, Newport FC will take on Worcester FC at 5:00pm at Pappas Recreation Center in Auburn, Mass.

That evening, Newtown Pride will venture west to meet Lansdowne Bhoys FC at 7:30pm at Gaelic Park in Bronx, N.Y.

On Oct. 18, Boston Olympiakos will take on GPS Omens at 10:00am  at Wayland High School in Wayland, Mass.

The First Round winners will meet in the Second Round during the weekend of Nov. 14-15.
