Nguyen Gets Call for USA-Costa Rica Clash

Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen was one of five players added to the current U.S. Men’s National Team roster on Sunday ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against Costa Rica.
Nguyen, who was called up for the U.S.’s first pair of friendlies in 2015, will join Revolution teammate Jermaine Jones for the tilt against the Ticos, which will take place at Red Bull Arena.
Joining Nguyen as additions for the clash are goalkeeper Bill Hamid (D.C. United), midfielders, Mix Diskerud (New York City FC) and Brek Shea (Orlando City SC), as well as forward Andrew Wooten (Sandhausen).
U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann also released the following players from camp following Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Mexico in the CONCACAF Cup: goalkeeper Nick Rimando, defenders DaMarcus Beasley and Matt Besler, midfielders Kyle Beckerman, Michael Bradley and Graham Zusi and forwards Clint Dempsey and Chris Wondolowski.
With the changes, the MNT roster stands at 21 players heading into the USA’s final match before the start of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Kickoff for the contest against Costa Rica is set for 6:30 p.m. ET.
