Boston Breakers midfielder Suzane Pires received her first international call-up from Portugal Women’s National Team Coach Francisco Neto ahead of an upcoming UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 qualifying match against the Republic of Ireland.
The 23-year-old, who hails from Sao Paulo, Brazil, played in 12 games and recorded an assist for the Breakers during her debut NWSL season in 2015. She spent time with the Breakers Reserves (WPSL) in 2014.
Prior to joining the squad organization, Pires played collegiately at Southern Connecticut State University, where she led the Owls in scoring as both a junior and senior. She finished her college career with 25 goals and 13 assists.
Pires will join the Portugal squad on Oct. 19 in Porto, where they will train ahead of their Oct. 27 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland. The match, which will be the first EURO 2017 qualifying match for A Seleccao, will take place at Estádio Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas in Moreira de Cónegos, Portugal.
