Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen and out-of-contract midfielder Jermaine Jones were both called in for the annual U.S. Men’s National Team January camp, which will kick off on Jan. 11 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.
The duo was among 23 players who received calls by U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who will spend the majority of the month preparing his team for friendlies against Iceland (Jan. 31) and Canada (Feb. 5).
Nguyen is coming off a season in which he racked up a team-best 10 assists while scoring seven goals in 32 matches. He has collected seven caps with the U.S.
With Nguyen on U.S. duty through Feb. 5, he will miss the first 2-3 weeks of Revolution preseason camp, which begins on Jan. 22.
Jones, whose contract with the Revolution expired on Dec. 31, played in 18 games for the Revolution, but did not record a goal or assist. He is the oldest player (34) called in for the January camp.
