Player Ratings: New England Revolution vs. Seattle

- Updated: September 5, 2010
After each match the contributors to New England Soccer Today will rate the performances of the Revolution players who made an appearance on a 1 to 10 scale (1 horrendous, 5 average, 10 perfection). This week Brian O’Connell, Carl Setterlund (Worcester Telegram), and Sean Donahue contributed ratings for the Revs’ 3-1 victory over Seattle Sounders FC.
Matt Reis – Average rating: 6 (Brian 5, Carl 7, Sean 6)
Reis wasn’t tested often, but managed to stop a pair of pounding shots. Could have done better to stop Zakuani’s goal. (Brian)
Seth Sinovic – Average rating: 6.67 (Brian 7, Carl 6.5, Sean 6.5)
Filled in well as Cory Gibbs sat due to suspension. Rendered Fredy Montero and Roger Levesque virtual non-factors. (Brian)
Darrius Barnes – Average rating: 5 (Brian 4, Carl 6, Sean 5)
Saved by Alston after he failed to deal with a cross from Seattle, early in the second half and left Zakuani unmarked on Seattle’s goal. (Sean)
Emmanuel Osei – Average rating 5.67 (Brian 5, Carl 6, Sean 6)
Solid performance, man marked well throughout the match. No obvious communication issues this weekend. (Brian)
Kevin Alston – Average rating: 6.17 (Brian 4, Carl 7.5, Sean 7)
Didn’t play terribly well. Was exposed by Zakuani twice after the 50 minute. Not one of his best games. (Brian) Alston had a shaky moment against Zakuani early, but made a couple of huge plays later in the game to put a stop to dangerous Seattle attacks. (Sean)
Chris Tierney – Average rating: 7 (Brian 6, Carl 8, Sean 7)
Tierney really stepped up his game in the last half hour of the match and got a deserved goal, but prior to that his final pass was a bit off, killing a few attacking chances. (Sean) Scored his first career goal to tie it, but at times looked slow. Under the radar for much of the first half. (Brian)
Pat Phelan – Average rating: 6.17 (Brian 6, Carl 6.5, Sean 6)
A good performance, although tended to advance a bit far at times. Stood stout in the face of a speedy Sounder attack. (Brian)
Shalrie Joseph – Average rating: 7.17 (Brian 6, Carl 8.5, Sean 7)
Distributed well, attacked at will, and played another smart game. Could’ve finished better at times. (Brian) Controlled the midfield and had a few moments of brilliance on offense. (Sean)
Kheli Dube – Average rating: 8 (Brian 7, Carl 9, Sean 8 )
Was a sight to behold on the right. Distrubuted well, engineered good chances, and was sound on the ball all night. (Brian) Finally scored and was a catalyst for the offense most of the night. (Sean)
Marko Perovic – Average rating: 6.83 (Brian 5, Carl 9, Sean 6.5)
Scored a good goal, but passing was off and got a needless yellow that will see him miss the next game. (Sean) Played a pretty solid game. Finished well on go-ahead, but received an idiotic yellow in the attacking third late. (Brian)
Ilija Stolica – Average rating: 6.5 (Brian 6, Carl 7.5, Sean 6)
Found quality chances and was an attacking force early before he faded late. (Brian) Combined nicely on Dube’s goal and did well on a few chances of his own. (Sean)
(Sub) Zack Schilawski – Average rating: 5.5 (Brian 6, Sean 5.5, Carl 5)
An effective late-match sub, hustled his way into a decent threat near goal in the final minutes. (Brian)
