NPSL: Boston City Kicks Off Regional Action May 1
- Updated: March 28, 2016
NPSL newcomer Boston City FC will usher in regional league action on May 1 in Malden, Mass. where they’ll host reigning champion New York Cosmos B.
The matchday 1 meeting between Boston City and Cosmos B will take place at Malden Catholic High School, and will kick off at 6:00pm.
The expansion side will also serve as host for Seacoast United Phantoms’ season opener, which is set for May 7.
A day later and about 25 miles northwest, Greater Lowell United FC will kick off its season on May 8 with a home match against Kingston Stockade FC at Cawley Stadium in Lowell, Mass.
Not longer after the Dragons make their season debut, Seacoast United Mariners will get its upcoming campaign underway on May 11 when they host Boston City at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Maine.
The Rhode Island Reds will open their slate on May 14 in front of the home crowd at Brown University in Providence, R.I. where they’ll host Greater Lowell United.
Each of the five New England-based sides will play a 16-game regular season schedule, which will run through mid-July, inside the Atlantic Conference of the Northeast Region.
Seacoast United Phantoms finished on 21 points last year, the highest point total among the regional NPSL contingent. But it wasn’t enough to overtake front-runner Cosmos B or runner-up New York Athletic Club for a playoff spot.
