On Saturday, the San Jose Earthquakes, a member of the Original 10, rocked a 1996-inspired look for its 20th-anniversary match against DC United to commemorate the Bay Area squad’s rich history.

With a couple of notable design elements from its former Clash identity (see: teal numbers and striped socks) incorporated into its ensemble for Saturday’s match, this got us wondering: should the Revolution follow suit and adopt a throwback look against a fellow MLS original club this season?

Truth be told, it wouldn’t be difficult to pull off. While some would love to see the squad don exact replicas of its inaugural kit (hand raised), a motif comprised of the primary navy top, the secondary red shorts, and the primary navy socks would certainly invoke the 1996 design.

If the Revolution were inclined to pull this look off in front of the home crowd, when would it be most appropriate?

Conference originals DC and New York have both already come and gone for the regular season, unfortunately.

However, home tilts against fellow MLS originals FC Dallas (formerly the Burn) on May 21 and Columbus Crew SC on Jul. 9 and Aug. 20 both await. Dates at Gillette Stadium against Colorado (Sept. 3) and Sporting Kansas City/Wiz (Oct. 1) could also work, as well.

Your move, Revolution.
