Gameday: #NEvPOR

Gillette-1

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Good evening from Gillette Stadium, where the Revolution (1-2-5, 8 points) hope a quick turnaround from Saturday’s humbling loss at DC will spearhead them back to victory against the Portland Timbers (2-3-2, 8 points).

The Revolution enter Wednesday’s match back at home following a two-game road trip to Orlando and DC, the latter of which saw the locals drop a 3-0 defeat.

On the other side of the pitch, the Timbers arrive in Foxborough following a bye week that allowed them to savor their 3-1 win over San Jose on Apr. 17 a few days longer than usual.

What’s at stake? With the season a quarter of the way complete and only one win to speak of, anything short of three from Wednesday’s contest will be viewed as a disappointment for the Revolution. For the Timbers, who enter the contest far from full-strength, a point will suit them just fine.

Biggest question: Can the Revolution offense bounce back from Saturday’s disappointing performance in DC without set piece specialist Chris Tierney?

Weather: We’ve got clear skies here in Norfolk County with the temperature in the low-60s, with the thermometer expected to dip into the high-40s around the time of the final whistle. Precipitation is not in the forecast.

Referees: Ismail Elfath will be the man in the middle for #NEvPOR. Joining Elfath will be Craig Lowry (AR1) and Claudiu Badea (AR2). The fourth official will be Geoff Gamble.
