Former Revolution designated player Jermaine Jones scored his third goal in as many games to put the Colorado Rapids atop the Western Conference table following Saturday’s 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake.

Jones latched onto a Kevin Doyle layoff in the 47th minute and beat Nick Rimando at the far post to give Rapids a lead it would not relinquish.

Since joining the Rapids, Jones, who was acquired in a trade with the Revolution in March, has scored three goals and collected two assists in three games. During that span, the Rapids have remained unbeaten and now boast a conference-best 20 points.

Meanwhile, Jones’ former MLS club currently sits in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, and have only one win in their first ten games to open the season.

Jones and the Rapids will look to keep up their winning ways on Wednesday against Sporting Kansas City at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
