Midnight Surprise: U.S. Soccer Unveils New Kit Overnight
- Updated: February 15, 2017
Apparently, there’s no hour too late to release a new kit – even if it’s right after the stroke of midnight.
Six minutes after midnight on Wednesday, U.S. Soccer unveiled an all-red look that’ll be worn by both senior sides this year.
Similar to the current home jersey, the red jersey is adorned with several patriotic flares throughout the material, including “1 Nation” and “1 Team” on the inside cuffs of the sleeve, in addition to “USA” displayed on the neckline.
The U.S. Women’s National Team will introduce the kit at the 2017 SheBelieves Cup taking place from March 1-7, and the Men’s National Team will first don the new uniform on March 24 in its critical World Cup qualifying match against Honduras in San Jose, California.
The red jersey is the first worn by the Men’s team since 2011 while the Women’s team last wore the color in 2008.
