Fielding a lineup that should bear a strong resemblance to the one seen next week in Colorado, the Revolution staked a 2-0 win over the Red Bulls in Saturday’s preseason finale at Kino Veterans Stadium in Tucson, Ariz.

Kelyn Rowe opened the scoring in the 52nd minute when he latched onto a Diego Fagundez through ball and beat Red Bulls reserve keeper Rafael Diaz for the cool finish. The goal was Rowe’s first of the winter.

Lee Nguyen tallied the second goal of the game in the dying moments thanks to a pass from Je-Vaughn Watson, who missed much of the preseason due to international duty with Jamaica. The late strike was Nguyen’s third goal of the winter.

As expected, the Revolution fielded a first-team lineup for Saturday’s match, with left back Chris Tierney the only noticeable absence. Tierney suffered what the team described as a “minor knock,” as Donnie Smith took up residence on the left side of the backline.

For the second straight match, new acquisitions Benjamin Angoua and Antonio Mlinar Delamea partnered at center back on Saturday.

Saturday’s win sees the Revolution finish the preseason with a 4-2-1 record, with a 2-2-0 record during the Desert Diamond Cup.
