#NERevs Predictions: Who’ll Win the Golden Boot?
- Updated: February 27, 2017
Welcome to the first of a five-part series of Revolution-related predictions for the upcoming season. Today, our writers weigh in on who they believe will win the Revolution golden boot.
We want your take, too! Feel free to leave your take in the comments section!
Sean Donahue: Kei Kamara. Kamara had a slow start after his transfer to the Revolution, but came on strong at the end of the season after the team switched to playing two strikers. With uncertainty surrounding what position Juan Agudelo will play, it’s hard to look past Kamara as the Revolution’s top scorer. Prediction: 15 goals
Greg Johnstone: A full pre-season with the Revolution should benefit Kei Kamara, who was only able to score 7 goals in 21 MLS games with the Revs last season. Kamara is only one year removed from 22 goals with the Crew in 2015 and while I doubt he’ll match his tally from his near-MVP season, I’m predicting a 14-goal season from Kamara.
Brian O’Connell: With the return of the 4-4-2, I’m going to throw it back to 2013, a heady time in Revolution lore, a time in which Jerry Bengtson sported Revolution blue and Juan Agudelo ominously donned the no. 10. I say all that to say this: Diego Fagundez will lead the squad in scoring. Virtually all the pieces that allowed him to net his career high 13 goals in 2013 are there this year: the formation, the return to form of Agudelo, and a renewed confidence, which was seen toward the tail end of last season. Write it down: Fagundez will be good for 12 goals in 2017.
Tomorrow’s prediction: Who’ll be the Revolution’s defensive MVP in 2017?
