Rookie Smith Undergoes Thumb Surgery
- Updated: April 10, 2017
Revolution rookie center back Josh Smith underwent surgery to repair his fractured right thumb on Monday, but is not expected to miss significant time.
Smith, who injured his thumb during the waning moments of his MLS debut at Portland on Apr. 2, sported a small cast over his right thumb during Saturday’s match against Houston.
Following Saturday’s 2-0 win, Smith, who started ahead of high-profile signing Benjamin Angoua for the second straight game, summed up his whirlwind introduction to league play.
“My goal was to come in, and help the team the best way I can, and improve day-by-day,” Smith said. “So I’m going to try and keep doing that.”
The fourth-round pick is expected to train with the Revolution in the days leading up to Saturday’s match at Chicago Fire.
