Turner Burned on Villa-esque Goal in Richmond

Less than 24 hours after David Villa’s 50-yard wundergoal that set social media on fire, Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner found himself on the wrong side of a similar effort on Saturday in USL action.
Turner, who was loaned to the Richmond Kickers for the weekend, was caught out off his line in the 79th minute when Ottawa Fury FC forward Steevan dos Santos launched a shot from the halfway line that sailed over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Santos’ long-distance strike proved to be the difference as the Fury prevailed 1-0 at City Stadium in Richmond.
In nine starts for the Kickers over the last two seasons, Turner has recorded a 0.55 goals against average and collected four clean sheets.
