The United States Men’s National Team will return to the region on Jul. 1 for a pre-Gold Cup friendly against Ghana at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in Hartford, Ct.
The match, which will kickoff at 4:45pm, will take place one week before the U.S.’s Gold Cup match against Panama on Jul. 8. The U.S.-Ghana clash will be broadcast live on ESPN, UniMas and UDN.
“Ghana is certainly a team that brings different challenges, and it’s the type of competition we need as we continue to develop our program,” U.S. head coach Bruce Arena said in a federation release. “Winning the Gold Cup is one of our priorities in 2017, so this is an important opportunity. We’ve always had great support in Hartford, and look forward to more of the same this summer.”
The U.S. has faced Ghana in each of the last three World Cups, with the African nation knocking them out of the 2006 and 2010 tournaments.
The U.S. Men’s National Team holds a 3-1-1 record in Hartford, the stadium having hosted matches in both World Cup Qualifying and the Gold Cup.
In the squad’s last visit on Oct. 10, 2014 vs. Ecuador, U.S. Soccer said farewell to the USA’s all-time leading scorer Landon Donovan.
