Boston City’s Jhonata Batista picked up a hat trick as Boston City FC rolled to a 6-1 win over Seacoast United Mariners on Saturday at Brother Gilbert Stadium in Malden, Mass.
Batista opened the account in the 17th minute before striking again in the 75th and 90th minutes. Kevin Herrera recorded a brace with goals in the 21st and 54th minutes while Michael Rincon scribbled his name on the scoresheet in the 85th minute.
Thomas Urquhart denied the Lions of a clean sheet by scoring Seacoast’s lone goal in the 66th minute.
“I think I’m more calm this year, I was too worried to score goals last season,” Batista, who’s scored six goals in last three, told the media after the match. “This year I just focused on helping the team, and now the goals are coming naturally.”
With the win, the Lions improved to eight points (2-0-2), earning a share of first place in the Atlantic White Conference along with Harford City FC and Kingston Stockade FC.
Boston City returns to action at home on Sunday, Jun. 4 against Hartford City. Seacoast United Mariners will be back on the pitch on Saturday Jun. 3 against Hartford City at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, Me.
