Hartford City Falls to SU Mariners

Kieran Simms scored early but it wasn’t enough for Hartford City, who fell 2-1 to Seacoast United Mariners on Saturday at Fitzpatrick Park in Portland, Me.
Simms opened the account inside of four minutes to put the guests ahead. But Carlos Lopez brought one back for the hosts before halftime, and Jonathan Groothoff tallied the game-winner in the 63rd minute to give the Mariners their first win of 2017.
Saturday’s match featured end-to-end action, and physical play led the referee to issue a number of cautions to players on both sides of the pitch.
Hartford City suffered its first loss of the season as a result of Saturday’s match, and stayed on eight points (2-1-2). Conversely, Seacoast United Mariners earned its first points of the campaign (1-4-0).
The Colts return to action on Sunday for a battle atop of the Atlantic White Conference at Boston City FC at Malden Catholic High School in Malden, Mass. The Mariners will look to stay in the win column on Saturday, Jun. 10 when they host New York Athletic Club in Portland.
