Rookie Brian Wright’s first professional goal steered the Revolution to the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals after they beat DC United 2-1 in Wednesday’s Round of 16 clash at Jordan Field in Cambridge, Mass.
Wright, the Revolution’s first-round pick in the 2017 SuperDraft, broke a 1-1 draw when he slotted it past Travis Worra in the 48th minute. Jose Ortiz opened the scoring inside of seven minutes to put DC ahead early before Diego Fagundez equalized on a brilliant free kick in the 44th minute.

With the win, the Revolution will either host the Philadelphia Union on Jul. 11, or the New York Red Bulls on Jul. 13, at Jordan Field.
The Revolution return to league play on Sunday at Philadelphia at Talen Energy Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:00pm. Last year, the Revolution lost both league meetings to the Union by a combined score of 7-0.
