Elm City Express notched its first playoff victory in club history to earn a spot in the Northeast Regional round following Saturday’s 2-0 win over TSF FC (New Jersey) in the Atlantic Blue Conference Division final at Yale University’s Reese Stadium in New Haven, Ct.
Tavoy Morgan unlocked a scoreless match in the 62nd minute while Lucas Gabriel Sousa scored from the spot in the 88th minute as the expansion side got its first taste of postseason spoils.
The New Haven selection earned its berth to Saturday’s final on the strength of a 29 point season (9-1-2), good for the top spot in the division. The top of the table finish afforded them a first-round bye.
Elm City will host Kingston Stockade FC in the Northeast Region semifinal on Saturday, Jul. 22 in New Haven.
Stockade steered itself to the semifinal after beating Hartford City FC in Saturday’s Atlantic Blue Conference Division final.
