NYCFC-Dynamo Match Moved to Hartford

MLS is coming to Hartford. For one afternoon, at least.
Due to scheduling conflict, New York City FC will host the Houston Dynamo at Pratt & Whitney Stadium on Sept. 23 at 3:00pm instead of Yankee Stadium as a result of a rescheduled New York Yankees home game.
NYCFC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna released a statement Tuesday stating Pratt & Whitney Stadium was the club’s best alternative.
“Pratt & Whitney Stadium is a great venue for us due to its wonderful playing surface and facilities,” Reyna said. “Hartford is a great soccer city which has hosted many important international games – I played there in a couple of games for the National Team many years ago – and it was always a wonderful place to play with a fantastic atmosphere and environment.”
The most recent high-profile match in Hartford was last month’s U.S. Men’s National Team match against Ghana, which attracted a crowd of 28,494.
“We’re looking forward to playing there,” Reyna said, “and having our fans come out and support the team in Hartford.”
Hartford is home to the NPSL’s Hartford City FC, which plays its matches at Central Connecticut State University in nearby New Britain.
The last first division side to call Connecticut’s capital home was the Hartford Bicentennials, which played its last season in 1976.
