Cameron Called up for WCQs
- Updated: August 27, 2017
Attleboro, Mass. native and Stoke City defender Geoff Cameron was called up by U.S. head coach Bruce Arena ahead of Friday’s World Cup Qualifier vs. Costa Rica.
Cameron, who has 53 career caps on his C.V., was one of 26 players called in for the crucial match, which will take place at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. The U.S. will face Honduras on Sept. 4 in San Pedro Sula.
“I think we’re bringing in a good roster, one that has depth in every position and in which all 26 players have been with the National Team in 2017,” Arena said in a federation release. “I think we have the right understanding as a group as to what needs to be done, and hopefully we can be successful in these next two games.”
Another player with local ties called in for the qualifiers is Boston College alum and Philadelphia Union midfielder Alejandro Bedoya.
No Revolution players were called up by Arena.
