The Weekend Update

On Friday night, the New Hampshire Phantoms (PDL) and Western Mass Pioneers kicked off the Fourth of July weekend with action at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow, MA. Striker Christopher Tsonis scored the lone goal of the match to give the Phantoms the edge in a 1-0 road victory.

On Saturday, the Vermont Voltage (PDL) fell 2-0 to the Ottawa Fury at Collins-Perley Sports Complex in Saint Albams, VT. Voltage keeper Harry Lockwood stopped seven shots, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the loss.

COMING UP:

This week, the Boston Aztec/Breakers Reserves (WPSL) return to action when they take on SoccerPlus CT Reds Wednesday night at Veterans Stadium in New Britain, CT. The game kicks off at 5:00pm.

The Voltage will face off against the Phantoms on Wednesday as well at Portsmouth High School. Opening whistle at 7:00pm.

Friday kicks off a slew of matches in New England, with no fewer than five matches on this weekend’s fixture list. The Phantoms return to Ludlow, MA to face the Pioneers at 7:00pm.

Saturday will see the Aztec face off against CFC Passion at North Reading High School with a start time of 6:00pm. Meanwhile, Northeast Division polesitters MPS Portland Phoenix and the Voltage will meet at Collins-Perley Sports Complex while the Pioneers travel north for the road leg of their series against the Phantoms at Portsmouth High School. Both games kick off at 7:00pm.

Portland wraps up the weekend slate on Sunday afternoon with a road match against Ottawa at Algonquin College Soccer Complex in Ottawa, with a 3:00pm opening whistle.
