The U.S. Men’s National Team is set to return to Hartford for the first time since May 2010 to face Ecuador on October 11th, according to a report on Ecuavisa.com.
U.S. Soccer announced today the team will face Honduras at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Fla. on October 8th. It now appears likely the team will take on Ecuador at Connecticut’s Rentschler Field three days later. October 7th – 11th are scheduled dates by FIFA for international fixtures.
The U.S. last played in Hartford in a pre-World Cup friendly against the Czech Republic on May 25th, 2010, losing 4-2. Prior to that match, the U.S. beat Latvia 1-0 in a Friendly at Rentschler Field on May 26, 2006 and beat Trinidad & Tobago 1-0 in a World Cup Qualifier on August 17, 2005.
In three matches at Rentschler Field the U.S. has averaged just over 28,780 fans in the 40,000 capacity stadium, including a record 36,218 fans at the most recent match against Czech Republic in 2010.
This would mark the U.S. Men’s National Team’s second visit to the New England region this year, having faced Spain in Foxboro, Mass. at Gillette Stadium on June 4.
The U.S. returns to action tonight against Costa Rica at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The match can be seen live on ESPN2.
